CONGREGATION DOR TAMID
5783/2022 HIGH HOLY DAY TICKETS (MEMBER & GUESTS), PARKING (ACCESSIBLE and PAID RESERVED), PRAYERBOOK, CHILD CARE, CHILDREN’S ACTIVITIES, USHER, AND YIZKOR BOOK

August, 2022

Dear Friends,

We are fast approaching our season of renewal and repentance and with it the High Holy Days of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.  For the first time in three years, we will be able to come together to celebrate the New Year in our spiritual home on Parsons Road.  I am looking forward to joining together with each of you in our Holy Day services.

After the success of last year's services, we have decided to bring everyone together this year.  For this reason, there will only be one service, at 10:00am, on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur morning.  Each one of them will be an exciting blend of traditional prayers and melodies as well as ruach (spirit) brought to us from our High Holy Day musicians as well as (on Rosh Hashanah morning) our brand new youth choir, Kol Sasson.  Additionally, our adult choir will return this year and help lead our services on Kol Nidre.

We will also continue a number of other "new" traditions at CDT.
  • Tashlich will be held at the lake behind Johns Creek City Hall on the first day of Rosh Hashanah at 1:00pm.
  • During the Days of Awe between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, you will have the opporunity to come to the synagogue, hear your loved ones names being recited, place a rock on the table in their memory, and spend some private and prayerful moments in front of the open Ark.
  • We will include a Healing Service on Yom Kippur afternoon between Mincha (afternoon services) and Yizkor.
Childcare and Children's programming will be held during both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur morning services for any child aged 19 months through 2nd grade.  Additionally, Family services will be held during the afternoon of each holiday.

Please make sure to fill out all of the information below and submit it by September 14.

I wish you all an early shanah tovah and am looking forward to seeing you soon for the Holy Days.

B'shalom,

Rabbi Jordan

USHER VOLUNTEERS

CDT requests the help of all members (men and women) to usher at this year’s High Holy Day services. Most arrival times listed are 30 minutes prior to the start of each service. The end time is approximate, depending on when each service is over. You will be provided with a schedule and our High Holy Days Usher’s Guide via email prior to the services. If you have any questions, please contact Art Criden at artcriden@gmail.com.

We greatly appreciate your help. If you are able to usher at more than one service, please indicate each service that you are available. Both men and women are needed, and if you have children age 16 and older who would like to assist please include their name(s) as well as age(s).

Provide the following information so we can contact you with the ushering schedule including your assignment(s).

Thank you for volunteering!

Yizkor Book 5783 / 2022
In the rising of the sun and in its going down, we remember them.
In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter, we remember them.
In the opening of buds and in the rebirth of spring, we remember them.
In the blueness of the sky and in the warmth of the summer, we remember them.
In the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of autumn, we remember them.
In the beginning of the year and when it ends, we remember them.
When we are weary and in need of strength, we remember them.
When we are lost and sick at heart, we remember them.
When we have joys we yearn to share, we remember them.
So long as we live, they too shall live, for they are now a part of us, as we remember them.
— Roland B. Gittelsohn
It is traditional to remember our loved ones with a donation of tzedakah. We suggest a donation of $18 per name for the first four names; $90 for 5-9 names; and $10 per additional name.
