Thank You for Participating in the 5785 Tree of Giving!

For many years at Congregation Dor Tamid, we have been following a fundraising model of a High Holy Day Appeal.  These appeals are an essential part of our yearly budget and help us to cover the costs of synagogue operations and maintenance and to help us provide the rich educational, spiritual and social events that bring us together as a community.  We rely on donations from our generous CDT families to make this happen in addition to varying fundraisers throughout the year including our annual spring fundraiser.

In our new year of 5785, we are changing our model, just a little bit, and instead of asking for donations for various events throughout the year, we will be changing our model to a more sustained ANNUAL appeal which will be our 5785 TREE OF GIVING.  Our 5785 TREE OF GIVING annual appeal will begin this year with the High Holy Days and will continue until Passover.

For our 5785 TREE OF GIVING, we are seeking suggested donations at the following levels.  Please remember that these are just suggestions and there is no amount too small or too large.  Any gift is appreciated, regardless of the size.  We would just like to encourage you to consider that this is our only synagogue wide fundraiser this year and to consider making a sustained donation over the 6 month time period or donating a little more than you would for past High Holy Day Appeals.

The 5785 TREE OF GIVING

  • Roots Level - $18,000 donation and above - We already have three generous families that have donated at this level and would love to add one or two more.

  • The Branch Level - $5,785 and above. This can be a one time payment or paid in increments over the course of the annual appeal.  We are looking for at least 10 families, hopefully more, who may want to support CDT at this level.  We already have 4 generous families and our CDT Sisterhood that have committed at this level.

  • The Leaf Level - $57.85 sustained monthly donation over the course of the appeal (which comes to $347.10) and above.  Our hope is that many families will decide to give at this level. Rabbi Jordan and Marni and the Zuspan family have already started the giving at this level.

With our TREE OF GIVING structure this year, just 3 families donating at the roots level, 10 families donating at the branches level, and 20 families donating at the leaves level, we have the potential of raising $130,000, but we can do so MUCH more.  And remember, any donation amount regardless of whether it is at one of the suggested levels or not is more than welcome and appreciated.

Our 5785 TREE OF GIVING will be displayed virtually at CDT and on our website, updated regularly to honor the families and individuals who have donated at or above the suggested levels with your name.  And at the end of our appeal next Spring we will have a ceremony and tree planting celebration of a live TREE with a plaque signifying our commitment and support of our synagogue and the CDT community.

Valued volunteers from our Board of Directors and beyond will be reaching out to you over the next few months to provide information and to help you with your donations.

We are CDT and together we can continue to help our community to thrive and grow for us.

Todah rabbah,

Rachel Allen, CDT President
